Ever since I discovered him in the '70s, I've had great admiration for Frazetta's work.
It seems to me
he
founded a dynasty, based around
capturing the magnificent statement. He captures the moment of
supreme action, excitement or tension in whatever he is depicting, and
that's what gives his works their punch and drama. And unlike many
of his imitators, he knows far better than to overdo the detail.
