My parents bought me several small art books, all from the same "How To" series published by The Studio in London. One was "How To Draw Farm Animals" illustrated by C F Tunnicliffe, and of course at that time I was too young to appreciate his great reputation and enormous output.
There was also "How To Draw Birds" by Raymond Sheppard "Baby Animals On The Farm" by Vere Temple and another, the name of which escapes me. Thank goodness for the Internet - I am gradually tracking them down.
Like Ron Embleton, Charles
Tunnicliffe was another great anatomist - mainly with birds and animals, but whenever he does include a human being in any of his works, they are always totally 'right' and convincing. |
